LiveWire Construction, in a joint venture partnership with Gurtz Electric Co., performed new construction and completed all electrical systems installation for the Northwestern Medicine Bronzeville Outpatient Center, a $100+ million, 252,000-square-foot state-of-the-art medical facility located at 4822 South Cottage Grove Avenue in Chicago’s historic Bronzeville neighborhood. LiveWire’s contract covered comprehensive electrical power, lighting, life safety, and low-voltage systems essential to delivering world-class healthcare to one of Chicago’s most underserved communities.
Opened in September 2025, the Northwestern Medicine Bronzeville Outpatient Center is a transformative healthcare destination serving more than 50,000 patients and family members annually across more than 14 medical specialties; including immediate care, oncology, cardiology, pediatrics, women’s health, mental health services, and advanced diagnostic imaging (MRI, CT, mammography). The project was managed under Turner Construction Company as the general contractor, with LiveWire Construction and Gurtz Electric Co. executing the work as a joint venture electrical partnership.
LiveWire and Gurtz’s combined team installed the complete electrical infrastructure powering advanced medical imaging equipment, clinical exam pods, infusion suites, life safety systems, and integrated building automation, designed to meet the rigorous standards of a healthcare facility targeting LEED Silver certification. The project utilized modular planning and prefabricated exam pods, requiring precise electrical coordination to ensure seamless integration of power, data, and life safety systems throughout the five-floor facility, which includes exam rooms, X-ray, MRI, CT, pharmacy, gym, parking, office, and conference areas.
